The Key Club is hosting its Annual Doubles Tennis Tournament on April 30th here at on the Grafton courts.  The fun starts at9:00 a.m. and continues until the doubles champions are crowned and rewarded with a Chick-Fil-A gift card.  A $20 fee per team will be collected to cover snacks and drinks for the teams.

To register, complete the back of the flyer and return it to Julia Glover in room 312 by Friday, April 28th.  Are you solo and need a partner??  Register anyway and we will find you a partner.  Feel free to contact Lacie Harman, Florence Darko, or Julia Glover with any questions.  Come join in the fun.  No skills are required just the desire to have fun!

Grafton’s Relay for Life team is sponsoring a Barbecue Dinner on Thursday, May 11th, here at Grafton from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $10.00 for one pulled pork sandwich (chicken upon request), beans, slaw, homemade dessert and a drink.  It is eat-in or take-out.  Attached is a flyer with more information.

All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.


Grafton Color Me Red & Blue 5K Fun Run/Walk – Saturday, April 29th!

Please make sure your seniors are signed up to either run/walk or volunteer for this fundraiser if they are available on April 29th.  Remember all the fundraising is for their After Prom event.

If you don’t want to run or walk, then consider volunteering for the event.  There are plenty of stations around the course that need volunteers to throw colored powder at the runners/walkers.  There is a hospitality tent that will need volunteers to hand out bananas and granola bars etc. as the participants complete the course as well as many other opportunities to help.  Contact Tina or Patti for more details or click on the following link for the sign up form.

Following the 5K there will be a fundraiser at Plaza Azteca, Yorktown so be sure to have dinner there and mention Grafton After Prom for us to receive a portion of all sales.





Outback Steakhouse Dinner – Monday, April 24th from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Grafton High School Cafeteria – Eat In or Dine Out.

$12 per person, includes Outback Special Sirloin, Grilled Chicken on the Barbie, Caesar Salad, Baked Potatoes, Bushman Bread and a beverage.  Dessert will be available for donation.



Parents of Class of 2017 – please consider volunteering your time and or your dessert making (or buying) abilities for this fundraising evening.

CHIPOTLE is holding a fundraiser for After Prom on May 10th at their Patrick Henry Mall location.  We get 50%!!!  Yes 50%!!! of all sales from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. that day.  So, spread the word and make sure everyone you know goes to Chipotle for lunch or dinner that day.  The flyer is attached to this email for you to print onto white paper or download onto your phone.  But if you forget either of those then just mention Grafton After Prom to the cashier to make sure we get our fundraising check.





Senior Class Day Volunteers Needed

Parents – Tuesday, May 30th, is Class Day for seniors.  It’s a chance for them to relax, have fun with their classmates and EAT!  We are looking for some parents who would be willing to coordinate/organize the lunch.  We typically serve hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, drinks, cookies etc.  The parents would grill the food, serve and clean up.  You would NOT be responsible for class day activities/games.

Pictures Needed!

Part of Class Day is a slideshow of your seniors.  We would like for you to submit pictures of your student as a baby/toddler/youngster and a current photo so we can see how they have grown/changed.  Digital images are preferred but we can scan your photo if necessary.  We would also appreciate group pictures of seniors: summer activities, sports, middle school photos, musical performances, etc.

You may email the images to or copy onto a CD/flashdrive and send them in to Virginia Shriner.  The deadline is May 1st.  Don’t let your senior be left out!!!





5 Weeks until After Prom!!!  The next After Prom meeting is Monday, April 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the GHS Cafeteria, immediately following the Outback Dinner.

Class of 2017 Graduation Flag

Next Order Dates are May 1st and June 1st!!

Show your GHS spirit and order a Class of 2017 Graduation Flag!  Any graduating year can be sewn onto the flag.  The order form is attached, so please fill it out and send it to the main office to be put in the PTSA box or email me.  The flags are $20.  The orders will be placed on May 2nd and June 2nd.

Foreign Language Day- Volunteers Still Needed

We still need more volunteers for this event.  Please click on the link below if you can spare some time on Thursday, April 27th from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  The students will get the chance to go from room to room sampling food from other countries and cultures.

The Nominating Committee announces the following list of nominees and vacancies for the 2017-2018 term of the Grafton HS PTSA Executive Board.

Summer Academy – Registration will start on May 1st at Grafton High School.  In order to register, your students must have a check written to Grafton High School for the correct amount and a completed Summer Academy form.  Students get this from their school counselor only.  Please note that all high school summer courses are taught virtually.

Cost:  $550 for a full original credit, $450 for a full repeat credit, $300 for a semester (.5) credit

Where:  York High School or Online

Dates:  June 23rd – July 27th, Monday – Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

TNCC Information & On-site Registration – Thomas Nelson Community College will be in computer lab 410 on April 25th for two sessions, one at 8:00 a.m. and another at 9:10 a.m.  Seniors should bring a copy of their SAT and ACT scores and their transcript.  Sign up in the school counseling office.

West Point Information Meeting – MAJ Herman Bulls, West Point’s SE Regional Admissions representative, will be at CNU on April 25th from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. to discuss admissions opportunities and to answer questions about West Point for any interested underclassmen.  The presentation will take place at the David Student Union building in the Washington Conference Room on the second floor.  For additional information, contact Jim Diehl, COL, US Army (Ret), West Point Society of Williamsburg,(757)



GABC Booster Club 

The Grafton Athletic Booster Club is pleased to announce the continuation of its Post-Secondary Scholarship Program.  The Grafton Athletic Booster Club will award two post-secondary scholarships.  They will be awarded to two athletes from the class of 2017, one male and one female. The scholarships will be in the amount of $500 each.  For eligibility requirements and additional information please see the attached application.  If you are interested in applying please complete this application and return it to the guidance office by Friday, May 12th.  Applications are available in the guidance office also.



Do you like to support our Grafton Athletes?  Do you realize that if you sign up to work concessions you get into the games for free on that night.  The link to sign up is:

Interested in supporting Grafton’s Sports Activities?  Consider joining the GABC for only $10.00.  You may be wondering where the money goes.  All of your $10.00 returns back to the athletes in equipment for each sport as well as hosting the end of the season banquet.  Senior recognition is also supported by the booster club, along with scholarships.  Look for the GABC table at Open House and Back to School Night to join and check out our website for more information and news.
